  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the banana mixture using a rubber spatula until just combined.
  4. If desired, gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  6. Allow cooling for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
