Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, diced

Instructions

  1. Thaw puff pastry per package instructions and preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth. Optionally add red food coloring for tinting. Fold in half of the diced strawberries.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  4. Create edges by either scoring with a knife or using a smaller heart cutter.
  5. Fill each heart with 1–2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture and top with remaining strawberries.
  6. Brush edges with an egg wash made from whisking 1 egg with cold water.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
