Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, diced
Instructions
- Thaw puff pastry per package instructions and preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth. Optionally add red food coloring for tinting. Fold in half of the diced strawberries.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Create edges by either scoring with a knife or using a smaller heart cutter.
- Fill each heart with 1–2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture and top with remaining strawberries.
- Brush edges with an egg wash made from whisking 1 egg with cold water.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
