  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Mix in granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture using a rubber spatula until just combined.
  7. If desired, gently incorporate chocolate chips into the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
