Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter for filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth. Mix into dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches) and spread softened butter over it. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the buttered dough.
  4. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge into a log shape. Cut in half lengthwise and twist together with cut sides up. Place in a greased loaf pan and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 190°F.
  6. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread.
