You can add your favorite vegetables or cheese to make it your own. Enjoy leftovers for lunch or a quick dinner the next day; this dish tastes even better after the flavors have melded together.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic; cook for another 3-4 minutes until onions are soft.
  4. Layer cooked beef mixture in the baking dish. Top with sliced potatoes seasoned with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle cheeses over the potatoes and pour beef broth around the edges.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving; garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
