  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp dark chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar


Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in salt, black pepper, brown sugar, dark chili powder, cumin, and red chili flakes.
  4. Mix in tomato paste and water; add bay leaf along with garlic powder and onion powder.
  5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar before serving.
